Cable Management System for Shore Power - Oban Base

The Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) is seeking a Cable Management System to enable shore-to-ship power (cold ironing) for its vessel NLV Pole Star at the Oban operational base. This investment supports NLB's environmental sustainability goals by allowing vessels to connect to onshore electrical power while berthed, eliminating the need for onboard diesel generators. Scope: The successful supplier will design, supply, install, integrate, and commission a safe, reliable, and operationally efficient cable management solution. The system must handle site-specific challenges including tidal variation, limited quay-side space, compatibility with existing shore power infrastructure, and minimal disruption to base operations. Key Requirements: - Safe and efficient cable handling, deployment, and retrieval between shore and vessel - Full compliance with marine, electrical, and relevant safety standards - Minimal civil works requirements (quay strengthening to be avoided where possible) - Seamless integration with existing shore power infrastructure - Proven or off-the-shelf technology preferred for reliability - Robust and scalable design suitable for operational use Contract Details: Estimated value £500,000, initial 2-year term with optional 1-year extension. Awards will be made using a Best Technically Affordable (BTA) approach, prioritising high-quality, technically compliant solutions within budget.
