    Brief

Natural England is seeking a qualified and experienced contractor to undertake scrub and semi-mature tree clearance at Unit 12 of Goss National Nature Reserve. The successful contractor must demonstrate prior experience working on designated ecological sites, including Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), and must understand ecological constraints related to priority species and habitats. The project covers approximately 2.62 hectares (gross), with approximately 1.6 hectares of net scrub requiring clearance. The vegetation includes Western gorse, European dwarf gorse, and semi-mature willow across a mosaic landscape. The site presents significant challenges including archaeological features (tin streaming mounds), boggy hollows, mires, floating bog, and uneven topography with grass tussocks. Contractors must be capable of working safely and sustainably in these sensitive ecological conditions while preserving archaeological and environmental values.
