Public and Personal Safety Training Level 2

Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST) Level 2 is mandatory in-person training for ESOC operational staff who engage in public-facing roles and may work in conflict situations. This accredited training, approved by the Commercial Board in August 2025, equips staff with practical skills to de-escalate conflicts, defend themselves, and safely withdraw from dangerous situations. The training is particularly critical for ESOC staff conducting serious and organised crime operations, including executing warrants, making arrests, searching premises, seizing evidence, and conducting interviews under caution—situations where police may not be immediately present. The curriculum covers: National Decision Model, use of force legislation, edge weapon skills, communication and personal management skills, unarmed personal protection techniques, and first aid. This training aligns with Authorised Professional Practice (APP) standards and is now part of regular business-as-usual training events. The training is not suitable for virtual delivery and must be completed in person. Processed by SSCL.
