Brief

This research opportunity builds on the RAC Foundation's published rural road segmentation research to develop an enhanced and more detailed categorization system for rural road types. The project seeks to advance road safety through improved classification methodologies that can better distinguish between different rural road characteristics and conditions. Researchers and organizations with expertise in road safety analysis, rural infrastructure assessment, or transportation research are invited to contribute to this phase, which will refine previous findings and create more granular road categories for rural areas to support improved safety interventions and policy development.
