Online Accessibility Guide for Local Venues

The London Borough of Newham is seeking a provider to develop and operate an online accessibility platform that provides free, public access to detailed accessibility information about local venues and amenities across the borough. The platform will assess and publish findings on a range of facilities including public transport, shops, hospitality venues, museums, parks, cinemas, theatres, tourist attractions, and sports facilities. All information must be presented in accessible formats and multiple languages, accessible via a free-to-access website with no registration or app download requirement. Assessments will be conducted by trained surveyors and must evaluate physical accessibility (doorways, ramps, level access), accessible toilet facilities (including gender-inclusive and stoma-friendly options), sensory accessibility (assistive listening, audio description), parking, public transport links, neurodiverse-friendly spaces, and assistance animal policies. The platform must be designed to serve all residents but particularly those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, sensory impairments, and carers of disabled people. Venues to be assessed will be agreed annually with the Council. The service is required to commence on 1 April 2027, with an anticipated contract value of approximately £10,000 per annum over three years.
