LED Lighting and Acoustic Panel Upgrade at National Oceanography Centre

This contract involves replacing existing lighting systems and installing acoustic ceiling panels across multiple facilities at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), including the Energy Centre, Canteen, Rock Laboratory, and selected University of Southampton teaching rooms. The scope of work includes: removal and proper disposal of old lighting fixtures, installation of Thorlux SmartScan LED lighting systems, installation of new emergency lighting, electrical modifications, system testing, commissioning, and integration of intelligent lighting controls. The project is part of NOC's broader estate-wide lighting modernisation initiative designed to achieve higher energy efficiency, lower maintenance costs, improved lighting quality, and support the organisation's carbon reduction and sustainability goals. MJG, the current contractor delivering the wider NOC site-wide Thorlux SmartScan upgrade programme, is being appointed to deliver these additional works. Continuing with the incumbent contractor ensures programme continuity, technical consistency, seamless integration with existing work, and avoids additional procurement and mobilisation costs that would result from appointing a new contractor.
