Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan 28: Options Development Support

United Utilities is developing its statutory Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP28) covering the next 25 years and is seeking external input to identify innovative solutions and complementary options for managing wastewater infrastructure. The organisation is conducting risk-based assessments to address key challenges including growing population demands, specialist developments like data centres, and increased rainfall intensity from climate change. Through this procurement, United Utilities invites suppliers, service providers, technology companies, and other organisations to submit alternative or complementary intervention options that could help maintain a resilient and sustainable drainage and wastewater system. Proposed solutions will be evaluated alongside internally-developed options to identify best-value approaches to wastewater network capacity management, treatment works performance, and environmental protection. This is an opportunity for external stakeholders to contribute expertise in wastewater management, sustainable solutions, and infrastructure resilience.
