Technical Auditing and Engineering Asset Inspections for Gas and Electricity Networks

Ofgem seeks qualified auditors and inspectors to assess and inspect asset management systems and equipment at gas and electricity sites operated by licensed network operators. The role encompasses three main areas: (1) evaluating asset management policies, procedures, and maturity against international best practices; verifying compliance with maintenance and recording protocols; and assessing staff training and intervention processes; (2) conducting on-site inspections of electricity assets (transformers, circuit breakers, cabling, overhead lines, etc.) and gas assets (terminals, pipelines, compressor stations, etc.), including review of maintenance schedules, records, and technical data submitted to Ofgem, with recommendations for improvements; and (3) investigating electricity or gas network incidents and issues to determine root causes and ensure compliance with relevant standards. Successful suppliers must provide detailed audit and inspection reports, site visit findings, incident investigation reports, and presentations to Ofgem. This is ongoing contract work for auditors to be employed by the Authority.
