Strengthening UK Industrial Innovation and Competitiveness

This research opportunity seeks analytical and advisory services to help the UK translate innovation into industrial growth and economic value. The work involves five integrated packages: (1) developing analytical frameworks to assess how firms, supply chains, institutions, finance, skills and production capabilities drive competitiveness; (2) identifying sectoral opportunities and capability requirements across different development stages; (3) mapping the UK innovation ecosystem including research institutions, private sector actors and commercialisation activities; (4) evaluating institutional roles, coordination gaps and fragmentation in the current system; (5) comparing UK approaches with international models to identify best practices; (6) designing institutional reforms, governance structures and policy interventions; and (7) producing evidence-based recommendations and design principles for future research and innovation institutions. The final deliverable will integrate these findings into a comprehensive framework linking sectoral opportunities with institutional arrangements and industrial outcomes.
