    Brief

DESNZ is seeking a research consortium to develop policy-relevant evidence for decarbonising the industrial sector and managing carbon. The programme comprises four core research work packages: (1) Industrial fuel switching, electrification, and alternative fuels; (2) Resource and energy efficiency; (3) Carbon capture, utilisation, storage, and engineered greenhouse gas removals; (4) Life cycle assessment methods and applications. Additional work packages include a flexible fund for emerging evidence needs and a data and stakeholder engagement workstream. The research will translate existing evidence and conduct new analysis, data collection, and modelling to support industrial decarbonisation decision-making. A key requirement is dissemination, knowledge transfer, and policy translation to maximise research impact. The consortium must bring together expertise across multiple industrial sectors, decarbonisation technologies, sustainability and cost assessment, supply chain interactions, and policy contexts. Methods will include literature reviews, quantitative and qualitative data collection, stakeholder engagement, modelling, project management, and policy analysis. Deliverables will include reports, datasets, models, decision support tools, case studies, training sessions, briefings, and scientific support. Research will be co-designed with policy stakeholders to ensure relevance and will maintain flexibility to respond to emerging policy priorities. Expected launch: 3-5 June. A supplier partner engagement form is available to help identify consortium partners.
