Vegetation Management and Weed Control Services for Public Highways

The City & County of Swansea is seeking a contractor to provide herbicide application and vegetation management services on public highways and associated areas. The contract requires 3 treatments per annum on arterial routes with 4 sprays on high-profile routes (before and after main sprays). Work must be completed within identified targeted date windows, with a minimum of 4 operatives working simultaneously during spraying periods. If chemical-based products are used, contractors must employ computer-controlled spot weeding technology to minimize chemical application while ensuring complete weed eradication. The scope includes treatment of footways to kerb, traffic islands, central reservations, 300mm of carriageway adjacent to kerbs, pedestrian precincts, hedge lines, property boundaries, street furniture bases, footpaths, alleys, walkways, tree bases, porous areas, and French drains. The contract covers approximately 28 km of dual carriageways and 59 car parks. A detailed programme must be provided 2 weeks in advance of each ward's attendance, with flexibility allowed for adverse weather conditions upon agreement.
