City of London Police Mounted Unit Facilities Development at 52 Aldgate High Street

The City of London Police seeks to relocate and develop the Mounted Unit's facilities at 52 Aldgate High Street, combining a vacant plot with neighbouring properties (50-51 Aldgate High Street) to create an integrated operational base. The project is currently in the feasibility and site assessment phase. Key operational requirements include: secure horse stabling and welfare facilities consolidated under one roof; rear vehicle access for discreet operations and horse box parking/manoeuvring; rapid deployment access to the City of London for ceremonial duties and policing operations; and potential for commercial accommodation above stables to generate income. The project is working closely with Transport for London (TfL), the landowner, to assess site conditions, legal status, and boundaries. Critical activities include detailed investigation of underground utilities and transport services, utility mapping, and identification of operational constraints. This feasibility phase will establish design parameters, ensure regulatory compliance, and determine the technical and commercial viability of the development.
