Community-Based Intravenous Antibiotic Treatment Service

University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is seeking a provider to deliver out-of-hospital parenteral antimicrobial treatment (OPAT) services in community settings. This service supports patients receiving intravenous antibiotics outside traditional hospital environments, enabling early discharge while maintaining clinical safety. The provider will be responsible for: administering parenteral antibiotics; monitoring patient vital signs and clinical observations; managing and caring for intravenous lines; identifying and reporting adverse reactions or side effects; performing phlebotomy and collecting blood cultures; communicating regularly with the UHB OPAT team; and participating in virtual clinical rounds. This role requires coordination between community-based staff and hospital specialists to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
