    Brief

    The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is seeking suppliers to provide lyophilisation (freeze-drying) services for inactivated viral and bacterial pathogens. This Request for Information (RFI) aims to understand market capability and supplier expertise to support UKHSA's Pandemic Preparedness strategy. Key Dates: - RFI Published: 30 June 2026 - RFI Response Deadline: 14 July 2026 Scope: USA requires support in developing optimal formulations and lyophilisation processes to safely store, handle, and distribute irradiated, inactivated pathogens for diagnostic use and pandemic preparedness. The project involves lyophilising up to 20 pathogens over 4 years, with vial volumes of 0.3-2mL, batch sizes of 6-100mL, and approximately 5 batches per year. Required Supplier Capabilities: - Handle irradiated, inactive viral and bacterial material in liquid medium - Develop and optimise lyophilisation protocols with different stabilisation matrices - Maintain ISO 9001 quality management system (minimum) - Provide product quality control testing, including thermal stability and contaminant absence Note: Responses to this RFI do not impact future tender eligibility, and UKHSA will not enter into contracts based on RFI replies.
