Geophysical and Shallow Sub-Surface Survey Services at Port Talbot

Associated British Ports is seeking a contractor to deliver geophysical and shallow sub-surface survey services at Port Talbot. This contract is structured in two phases. Phase 1 (firm scope, August-October 2026) involves reconnaissance geophysical surveys of approximately 60 km² in water depths of 25-35 meters, including high-resolution bathymetric data collection, sidescan sonar seabed reflectivity mapping, sub-bottom profiler imaging of shallow sub-surface features (less than 10 meters depth), and opportunistic magnetometer surveys. The survey area is located 10-15 km from the coastline. Phase 2 (optional scope, 2027) involves UXO (unexploded ordnance) detection and seismic surveys over a refined area, including single-channel seismic data collection to approximately 30 meters below seafloor, high-resolution bathymetric data, and magnetometer data for UXO assessment. ABP reserves the right to award Phase 2 as a separate contract and may modify the contract terms in accordance with relevant regulations.
