Child Disability Support and Short Breaks Service

Perth & Kinross Council invites qualified providers to deliver short breaks and practical caring support for children and young people with disabilities and their families across Perth and Kinross. This service will offer flexible support in homes and communities, including evenings and weekends, to help children and young people with disabilities meaningfully participate in their communities, develop independent living skills, and enjoy childhood opportunities. Support will be trauma-informed and rights-based, placing children, young people, and parent carers at the centre of planning their own care. The service aims to strengthen family wellbeing by providing early intervention support to parent carers, reducing burnout risk while enabling children to thrive within their home communities and family networks. Successful providers will demonstrate experience in disability support, knowledge of trauma-informed practice, understanding of children's rights, and ability to deliver flexible, person-centred support.
