Purchase New or Low-Hour Articulated Dump Truck and Agricultural Tractor for Training

CITB is seeking to procure two items of plant machinery to enhance its Plant Operator training operations. First, a new or very low-hour ex-demo 25-30 tonne Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) is required to restore the training fleet to four operational machines, replacing one sold in 2025. The current fleet of three machines cannot adequately support learner allocation. Hiring ADTs is not a viable alternative due to high specialist costs, severe UK market availability constraints from major construction projects, and the fact that available machines do not meet training standards. Second, a new or very low-hour ex-demo agricultural tractor is needed to replace an aging machine currently used for training field preparation and apprentice and commercial training activities. The existing tractor has accumulated high operational hours, resulting in increasing maintenance costs. This ground preparation function is critical to training field operations. While a dozer can serve as an alternative, associated running and repair costs make it economically unviable long-term. Suppliers should have expertise in supplying new or certified ex-demo plant machinery and understand the requirements for training-grade equipment.
