Badger Hair DNA Analysis and Genotyping Services

This contract requires DNA extraction and genotyping services for badger population surveys. Two requirements are included: (1) Extract DNA from individual badger hairs and use PCR technology to amplify and identify SNP alleles to determine the number of individual badgers in the National Badger Sett Survey (samples expected 25-28); (2) Extract DNA from clumps of badger guard hairs (typically 15+ hairs including roots, though some samples may be smaller) and genotype using a panel of approximately 5,500 SNPs to identify individual badgers. The supplier must be capable of handling variable sample quality and sizes, accounting for within-population homogeneity and allelic dropout. Successful completion will provide genotype data essential for badger population research and monitoring.
