    Brief

This research opportunity seeks to quantify and communicate the effectiveness of the National Food Crime Unit (NFCU) in combating food crime in the UK. Food crime—including adulteration, substitution, misrepresentation, and fraud—costs the UK economy an estimated £410 million to £1.96 billion annually and damages consumer confidence and the reputation of the UK food sector. Successful tenderers will develop a robust, evidence-based methodology for assessing NFCU impact on an ongoing basis. The project requires submission of: (1) a final research report detailing a practical methodology for continuous NFCU impact assessment; (2) an updated and expanded methodological framework; and (3) a suite of repeatable, public-facing impact measures with implementation guidance that can clearly communicate the NFCU's realized impacts to stakeholders.
