Retaining Wall and Pier Reconstruction at Carlton Parish Church

This project involves the removal and reconstruction of a retaining wall and pier at Carlton Parish Church. The contractor will remove the existing church boundary retaining wall and associated pier, then erect a new retaining wall and pier using reclaimed bricks and capping stones where possible. The existing retained soil will be battered back at 45 degrees. Key tasks include: removal of an Austrian pine tree, taking down the wall to ground level (to be partially completed by volunteers before work commences), and reconstruction using salvaged materials. The gate pillar may require professional removal if volunteers are unable to complete this. All cleaned bricks and capstones will be carefully stored for reuse in the new structure. As the work involves activity in the Highway, any contractor must comply with Leicestershire County Council regulations regarding necessary licences and qualified operatives.
