    Brief

This is a site investigation contract for the Mountmellick Flood Relief Scheme in County Laois, Ireland. The scheme involves constructing 1191 meters of flood defence walls and 5366 meters of embankments along the River Owenass, River Pound, Clontygar Stream, and Carroon Stream to protect Mountmellick town from flooding. The successful contractor will conduct comprehensive site investigations to support detailed design and reduce construction risks. Key deliverables include: executing exploratory boreholes, trial pits, slit trenches, dynamic probing, window sampling, peat probing, and soil infiltration testing across the scheme area; gathering ground and groundwater data in under-investigated locations; assessing hydrogeological and geo-environmental conditions; installing long-term monitoring instrumentation at critical areas; and identifying underground utilities or historic workings. The work will be conducted on public and private land with appropriate landowner permissions. Three historic sites (graveyard, church, and historic town center) are located within 170 meters of proposed structures and must be considered during investigations.
