Exam Venue and Invigilation Services for Medical Assessments in the UK and EU

The General Medical Council (GMC) is seeking a supplier to provide venue and invigilation services for medical knowledge assessments across the UK and EU. The GMC regulates doctors, physician associates, and anaesthesia associates in the UK, and conducts several types of examinations for registration candidates, including the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) for PLAB (Professional Linguistic Assessment Board), AARA (Anaesthesia Associate Registration Assessment), and PRES 2 (Pre-Registration Examination Assessment). Assessments are three-hour, in-person written exams held up to four times per year. The supplier must provide: venue facilities accommodating up to 1,000 candidates per site, invigilation services, and administrative and logistical support. Exam locations currently include London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, and Birmingham in the UK (Lot 1), and Spain and Ireland in the EU (Lot 2), with potential expansion during the contract term. Annual demand varies between 5,000 and 25,000 exam places across multiple sites worldwide. Exam bookings close two weeks before UK dates and six weeks before international dates. Bidders may submit proposals for one or both lots and must demonstrate flexibility to meet changing capacity and location requirements over time.
