County Durham Council is seeking multiple providers to deliver the Fun and Food programme during summer 2026 for school-aged children who receive benefits-related free school meals. This Department for Education (DfE) funded initiative is available to children within County Durham boundaries. Key Requirements: All providers must deliver against DfE standards including: nutritious food provision, enrichment activities, physical activities, healthy eating and lifestyle education, family support and signposting, safeguarding compliance, and documented policies and procedures. Flexibility: While primarily for eligible children, providers may use alternative funding to include other children (with parental/carer charges where applicable). Providers should submit proposals for summer 2026 delivery. Expansion Opportunities: Successful summer providers may be invited to extend their contracts to Christmas holidays at the Council's discretion, based on delivery performance. If the Council secures additional funding for other school holidays or ineligible participants, successful providers will be notified of expansion opportunities. Evaluation: Proposals will be assessed against set criteria. Providers meeting success thresholds will be invited to bid for subsequent holiday periods using the same evaluation framework.
