Defence Contract: Sting Ray Torpedo Upgrade and Manufacturing

Defence Equipment and Support (part of the UK Ministry of Defence) is awarding a Defence and Security contract to BAE Surface Ships for the Sting Ray Mid-Life Upgrade (SRMLU) programme. The work involves demonstrating and initially manufacturing upgrades to convert existing Sting Ray MOD 1 Lightweight Torpedoes to the enhanced Sting Ray MOD 2 design. The contract structure includes: an initial 4-year demonstration and initial manufacture phase, with an optional extension of up to 4 years for full-scale manufacture and refurbishment of existing stockpiles. This is a high-value defence contract with an estimated total value of £600 million (including VAT). The opportunity supports the modernisation of critical naval defence capabilities.
