Adult Bereavement Support Services for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

This service commissions comprehensive bereavement support for adults (18+) in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. The service aims to provide accessible, empathetic, and effective support to help prevent poor mental health and suicide risk among bereaved individuals. Bereavement often leads to impaired mental health, adverse health behaviours (including increased substance use, poor sleep, unhealthy eating), social isolation, and increased suicide risk. The service must specifically support people experiencing sudden, unexpected, or drug-related deaths. Priority populations include Black, Asian, ethnic minority communities and other underserved and vulnerable groups who face barriers to accessing bereavement support due to availability and stigma. The service does not include post-suicide postvention support or end-of-life care, which are commissioned separately. Suppliers should demonstrate expertise in trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and ability to reach underserved populations.
