    Brief

    Cardiff and Vale University Health Board's Public Health Department is seeking a seconded specialist Public Health professional to support the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of health promotion initiatives focused on healthy weight and obesity prevention across Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan. The successful candidate will work within the local Public Health Team under the direction of senior public health staff and the Public Health Director to lead specific health promotion programmes targeting different sectors and community groups. Key responsibilities include: leading the delivery of public health programmes to reduce overweight and obesity; working collaboratively with stakeholders from public, private and third sector organisations; coordinating activities aligned with national and local initiatives such as Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales and Good Food and Movement; and advising on the development of local and organisational health policies. This is a 12-month secondment role available until 30th September 2025, renewable pending permanent recruitment options. The role requires expertise in community health development, partnership working and the ability to implement strategic health initiatives at a local level. Candidates should have specialist knowledge and experience in public health promotion and obesity prevention programmes. This opportunity is available through a direct award exemption under the Procurement Act 2023 to Bristol City Council as a public body horizontal arrangement.
