Nuclear Industry Risk Advisory Board - Establishment and Governance

This project supports the reconvening of the Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board (NIRAB), an independent expert advisory body that provides strategic advice to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) on risk-based regulatory decision-making in the nuclear sector. The work implements recommendation 6 of the Nuclear Regulatory Review and includes: establishing the Board's governance structure and operating framework; developing Terms of Reference; defining roles and responsibilities for the Chair and panel members; managing a competitive recruitment process for board members; coordinating engagement with DESNZ officials and key stakeholders; and providing ongoing secretariat support for Board meetings and operations. This is an opportunity for organizations with expertise in nuclear regulation, governance frameworks, recruitment processes, and stakeholder engagement to support the establishment of a critical advisory body influencing nuclear policy and regulatory decision-making in the UK.
