    Brief

Surrey County Council is seeking a service provider to deliver the Appropriate Adult Volunteer Service across Surrey. This service ensures that children and vulnerable adults have support when detained or interviewed by police, as required by the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and Crime and Disorder Act 1998. Appropriate Adults safeguard detainees' rights and welfare by providing advice, support, and assistance; helping individuals understand their legal rights; facilitating communication with police; and monitoring police procedures to ensure fair and lawful treatment. The successful provider must recruit, train, and manage volunteers to deliver services across the entire Surrey geographic area. This is a county-wide procurement, and providers must demonstrate capability to provide comprehensive coverage throughout all of Surrey.
