Steam Boiler Replacement at MHRA South Mimms Laboratory

MHRA is seeking a contractor to design, supply, install, test, commission and handover replacement steam-boiler systems at its Blanche Lane facility in South Mimms, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. The project involves replacing three existing 3,900 kg/h gas-fired steam boilers with two 3,000 kg/h electric steam boilers, plus associated mechanical, electrical, controls, building, civil and enabling works. This is a live operational medical-research facility, so the contractor must maintain safe operations, ensure steam continuity, provide electrical resilience and manage controlled access throughout delivery. The successful tender will demonstrate technical credibility, an executable programme, transparent pricing under NEC3 ECC Main Option A, clear risk allocation, measurable social-value commitments relevant to local delivery, and capability for collaborative NEC delivery with disciplined change control. The contractor will be selected based on the most advantageous tender against published award criteria.
