Wader Protection Through Predator Control at Warslow Moors Estate

The Authority seeks a contractor to implement a three-year predator control programme (with optional two-year extension) to protect breeding wader populations at Warslow Moors Estate, a 1,902-hectare site designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Protection Area. The project focuses on reducing predation pressure on Eurasian Curlew, Common Snipe, and Lapwing populations through humane and legally compliant control of foxes, crows, magpies, stoats, weasels, and minks. The work will be conducted annually from January to June across approximately 500 hectares, including the core Breeding Wader Priority Protection Area and adjacent suitable habitat on private land (subject to consent). The contractor must maintain accurate records of predator control activities and breeding wader numbers, work collaboratively with estate staff and stakeholders, and provide evidence-based recommendations for future improvements. Full compliance with wildlife, firearms, and health and safety legislation is essential.
