Recode UK Diet and Nutrition Survey Food Data into EFSA Classification System

The Food Standards Authority (FSA) is seeking a contractor to recode food consumption data from the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) into FoodEx2, an internationally standardised food classification and description system. This work supports the FSA's food safety risk assessments by ensuring dietary exposure data is properly classified for analysing how consumers are exposed to hazards, contaminants, additives, and pesticide residues. The NDNS is a rolling programme co-funded by the Department of Health and Social Care and the FSA that collects comprehensive diet and nutritional intake information from the UK general population. By converting this consumption data into FoodEx2 format, the FSA can conduct more accurate and internationally comparable UK dietary exposure assessments to inform food safety decisions. Contractors should have expertise in food data coding, the FoodEx2 classification system, and handling large nutritional datasets.
