Brief
Lytchett Matravers Parish Council is seeking a contractor to refurbish and enhance Rocket Park, the village's main public play area in Poole, Dorset. The project will revitalise the space by replacing older equipment, improving accessibility, and creating appeal for children aged 1-15 and teenagers.
Scope of work includes: removing and disposing of selected equipment; relocating an existing rotator; installing new toddler play equipment (ages 1-6); installing challenging play equipment for older children/teenagers (ages 12-15); replacing the inset trampoline; installing new wetpour safety surfacing and pathways; upgrading the ball court with combined football goal/basketball hoop; applying new court and toddler roadway markings; and installing play panels in the toddler area.
All equipment and surfacing must be durable, low-maintenance, non-timber-based construction and comply with BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177 standards. The contractor will manage all removal, disposal, surfacing, installation, site safety, welfare facilities, and reinstatement works.
Contract value: £70,000-£85,000 excluding VAT. Works scheduled for Autumn 2026, minimising disruption during school holidays where possible.
Tenders must include: design proposal with visuals/layouts, itemised pricing, proposed timeline, equipment specifications, warranty and maintenance details, relevant experience and references, and confirmation of insurance and standards compliance. Award based on overall value, play value, quality, durability, experience, and cost—lowest tender not guaranteed acceptance.
