Welsh Broadband Infrastructure Grant Framework

The Welsh Government is establishing a framework to deliver superfast broadband (30Mbps+) to approximately 29,000 premises across Wales that lack commercial coverage due to high infrastructure costs. The framework will award call-off contracts through competitive selection processes to eligible telecoms suppliers, providing grant funding to bridge the cost gap for connecting underserved communities. The framework comprises two lots: Lot 1 for projects serving 1,000+ premises and Lot 2 for projects under 1,000 premises. Suppliers may apply for either or both lots. Grant funding is VAT-exempt. Eligible premises will be confirmed in individual requests for proposals, with the initial list subject to refinement as other public sector deployments (such as Project Gigabit) progress.
