    Brief

    The Local Government Association (LGA) is seeking up to 3 associate advisers to support its children's services leadership programme for local councils and their leaders. This role focuses on Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) improvement and reform readiness. Role Overview: You will provide expert guidance and support to councils, working 60 days per year at a day rate of £700. Your key responsibilities include collaborating with the SIA team to ensure national coverage, engaging with councils and regional improvement alliances, supporting peer-led improvement approaches, and identifying emerging themes and best practice in SEND. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate across the SIA team to ensure effective coverage, prioritisation and impact evidence • Maintain regular engagement with the LGA Children's Improvement Team • Work with advisors and corporate leaders to deliver a coherent, high-quality offer • Support peer-led improvement as the primary approach • Design and deliver national, regional and local leadership development activities • Build relationships with councils and leaders to understand SEND needs and support improvement • Engage with regional improvement and innovation alliances (RIIAs) • Provide constructive challenge to local and regional approaches • Identify councils needing support with SEND reform readiness • Develop and disseminate guidance, tools and case studies • Share best practice and learning across the sector • Contribute to programme monitoring, evaluation and improvement Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in SEND improvement, children's services leadership, or related fields, with strong relationship-building and strategic thinking skills.
