Automated Blood Grouping and Transfusion Testing Managed Service

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a managed service provider to supply, install, maintain and support automated blood transfusion analysers and associated consumables. The contract includes analysers, reagents, quality control materials, software support and upgrades, preventative and reactive maintenance, technical support, user training, and reagent supply management. The service performs approximately 104,845 blood grouping and transfusion-related tests annually, including blood grouping (50,000), antibody screening (50,000), antibody panels (1,500), crossmatching (1,500), and related serological tests. Electronic issue of blood is mandatory, enabling rapid compatible blood product delivery across emergency departments, operating theatres, maternity, critical care and haematology services. Service continuity is critical for patient safety, regulatory compliance and operational resilience. Any service interruption could compromise the Trust's ability to provide timely transfusion support for emergency care, surgery and maternity pathways. This contract is awarded via the NHSSC PCR 2015 Laboratory Diagnostics Framework Agreement (OJEU REF: 2023/S 000-028831) using the Direct Award mechanism.
