Thamesmead Extension Early Works - Docklands Light Railway

Docklands Light Railway Limited (DLRL), part of Transport for London, has awarded the Thamesmead Extension Early Works contract to Amey Rail Limited through TfL's Infrastructure Improvement Framework. This project extends the DLR eastward from Gallions Reach and includes construction of new stations at Thamesmead and Beckton Riverside, plus a new tunnel crossing beneath the River Thames. The contract is structured in three stages: Stage 1.1 focuses on mobilisation, programme review, risk identification, and survey scoping; Stage 1.2 involves completing surveys, developing Stage 2 scope, estimating, and preparing commercial arrangements; Stage 2 delivers the defined early works. The initial commitment covers only Stage 1.1, with progression to subsequent stages dependent on Stage 1.1 completion, affordability confirmation, necessary approvals, and satisfaction of contractual conditions. The stated contract value includes estimates for potential Stage 1.2 and 2 works and should not be treated as a final committed price, as detailed costs will be determined during Stage 1.1 execution.
