    Brief

Cefas is seeking a complete, production-ready inspection-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) system for seabed imagery research and data collection. The ROV must be depth-rated to 300 metres, built on open-source or open-architecture platforms, and capable of operating from Research Vessel Cefas Endeavour without a dedicated launch system. Key requirements include: high-definition video and imaging with automatic depth and altitude control; integration of survey-grade or machine vision-based subsea imaging with independent video recording; an open, documented platform for third-party sensor integration (stereo cameras, lasers, sonar, positioning); surface power with fibre-optic and copper tether capabilities; all subsea components rated to 300 metres; hand or crane deployment and recovery capability; suitability for continuous offshore use with rugged transport cases; and full technical documentation for first-line maintenance by Cefas engineers. The supplier must supply, integrate, factory-test, deliver, commission, and train staff on the system. The ROV must be a commercially available system with proven operational use, include at least 12 months warranty from successful testing, require no recurring licensing or subscription costs, and prioritize ease of maintenance using off-the-shelf spares. Proprietary, locked, or subscription-based software and hardware are not acceptable.
