Food Safety Inspections Service Framework Agreement

Birmingham City Council is establishing a 4-year framework agreement for food hygiene and standards inspection services, commencing July 2026. The Council has statutory responsibility to inspect approximately 11,100 food businesses across Birmingham annually, with a target of 4,500-5,000 primary inspections conducted in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice. Inspections cover all business types and sizes, including small independent outlets and large national chains, many in inner-city locations. Inspection scope includes food hygiene checks, food standards assessments, and Duty of Care inspections for refuse disposal arrangements. This is a call-off contract under a framework agreement with no guaranteed expenditure level. The successful supplier will be engaged on an as-needed basis dependent on inspection demand and internal resource availability. The Council seeks a single supplier for this framework agreement.
