Event Medical Cover for BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend - Sunderland

Sunderland City Council is seeking a qualified supplier to provide medical cover for the Zone Ex areas (including transport hubs) at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend event in Herrington Country Park, Sunderland, taking place 22-24 May 2026. The event expects up to 40,000 visitors per day. The supplier will develop a comprehensive Event Medical Cover Resource and Infrastructure plan in collaboration with the Council, statutory agencies, and the Strategic Advice Group (SAG) to minimize pressure on local NHS services. The contract involves three stages: (1) creating an initial medical cover plan for SAG evaluation; (2) refining the plan based on SAG feedback and stakeholder requirements; and (3) implementing the approved plan and delivering safe, inclusive medical cover throughout the event. The supplier must attend all meetings, site visits, and coordinate with event partners to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and safety standards.
