National Paediatric Diabetes Audit Contract

The National Health Service and publicly funded healthcare authorities seek a service provider to deliver a national clinical audit programme measuring quality, outcomes, and experience for children and young people with paediatric diabetes across NHS-funded services in England and Wales, and publicly funded care in Jersey. The contract will run for 3 years with a core budget of £1,103,361 including VAT (£1,138,669 excluding VAT), with potential extension for up to 24 months and aspirational enhancements that could bring the total value to £6,376,600 including VAT. The successful tenderer must build on existing audit achievements to develop a robust, clinically-led programme with 10 key quality metrics, detect and reduce clinical variations through benchmarking, maintain alignment with NICE guidance, and deliver timely, accessible reports at unit, Trust, health board, and Integrated Care System levels. Key deliverables include quarterly interactive metric results, annual state of the nation reports, quality improvement resources, outlier identification and notification, spotlight reports, patient experience reports (PREM), and collaboration on hybrid closed loop work. The audit must meaningfully engage patients, carers, clinicians, commissioners, and support groups while utilising strong project management, robust statistical methodology, and considering opportunities for linking data to other national datasets. Suppliers should have experience in healthcare quality improvement, clinical audit design, statistical analysis, stakeholder engagement, and delivery of complex multi-stakeholder programmes.
