Meridian Water Heat Network Extensions - Pipe Installation Contract (Northern and Western Extensions)

Energetik is seeking a contractor to design and build extensions to its Meridian Water Heat Network (MWHN) in two phases: a western extension from Church Street/Edmonton Green to Winchmore School and Edmonton County School, and a northern extension from Ponders End High Street to Capital College and Waverley School. The contract involves installing approximately 2.9km of DN200 Series 3 pipe and 0.5km of DN150 Series 3 pipe (minimum 800mm cover) predominantly in roads and cycle paths. The contractor will be responsible for coordinating pipe delivery from Logstor in Denmark, purchasing joints and materials, and conducting installation with full system integration including leak detection, pipe cleaning, hydraulic testing, and network commissioning. Pre-construction work must commence by 22 September 2026, with main construction starting by 5 January 2027 subject to planning approval and Section 50 licences from Enfield Highways. The contract has a sectional completion deadline of 31 March 2027 (minimum £1.5m spend required) and final completion by 31 March 2028, with liquidated damages of £20,000 per day for delays. The 18-month contract is grant-funded and requires close coordination with Enfield Highways to develop traffic management solutions that avoid full road closures and minimise disruption.
