Inclusive Timber Shelter Design and Installation at Hicks Lodge

Forestry England invites contractors to design, supply, and install an inclusive, bespoke timber shelter at Hicks Lodge in Leicestershire (LE65 2UP), a visitor destination within the National Forest on a former coal mining site. The shelter will serve as a multi-purpose space for meetings, activities, and picnicking, accommodating various community groups and organized programs throughout the year. The facility will be used for wellness activities including T'ai-Ga sessions, nature and bushcraft workshops, group briefings, and evaluations, while providing weather protection for visitors exploring the site's trails, bird hide, play areas, and café. Successful bidders should have experience in timber construction, inclusive design principles, and outdoor facility development. The shelter must be designed to accommodate diverse user groups and support both recreational visitors and organized health and wellbeing programs.
