Healthy Weight Service Provider

London Borough of Hounslow is recruiting an experienced provider to deliver a redesigned Healthy Weight Service using the Most Suitable Provider Process (MSP) under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The new service marks a significant shift from traditional 12-week weight management programmes to a whole-systems, prevention-focused approach. The Council aims to improve healthy weight outcomes across all residents by addressing the social, economic and environmental factors that influence obesity. Key service elements include universal and targeted programmes such as family cooking classes, school-based engagement with children and young people, and integrated nutrition and behaviour change support through the expanded Healthy Hounslow adult physical activity provision. The service design is underpinned by evidence-based behaviour change theories, specifically the COM-B Model and Behaviour Change Wheel, and must adopt the Compassionate Healthy Weight Framework. This ensures a person-centred, trauma-informed and non-stigmatising approach that promotes dignity and avoids weight stigma. All interventions must move beyond information provision to develop residents' knowledge, skills, confidence and motivation for sustainable behaviour change. Providers must demonstrate capability in clinical governance, performance management, service delivery, readiness to work within the Healthy Hounslow Alliance, contract mobilisation and social value commitments. The service will be tailored to Hounslow's diverse population through coproduction with local communities and stakeholders, and will support residents who live, study, work or are registered with a GP in the borough.
