Assessing Climate Vulnerability Approaches for Marine Migratory Species in Caribbean and Pacific UK Overseas Territories

This project will evaluate the feasibility of applying bioclimate vulnerability assessment methods to priority marine migratory species in the Caribbean UK Overseas Territories and the Pitcairn Islands. The study will review the proposed bioclimate vulnerability approach and compare it against alternative assessment methods to identify the most suitable option for future use. The project will assess data availability and suitability, identify evidence gaps and technical constraints, and determine confidence levels for future assessments. Key deliverables include recommendations on the most appropriate assessment approach, an analysis of what can be done with currently available data, identification of additional data and expertise needed, and a roadmap for implementing a future climate vulnerability assessment programme. This work will support climate adaptation, marine conservation and environmental decision-making across these territories by helping understand how climate change will affect marine migratory species through changes in temperature, habitat availability, migration routes and food sources.
