External Legal Services for Great British Energy (2026-2028)

Great British Energy is seeking experienced legal contractors to provide comprehensive legal support from 2026 to 2028. The successful contractors will have extensive expertise in the renewables sector across all technologies and will support investment activities, project development, and the design and delivery of grant and debt funding programmes. Services required include regulatory advice, permissions, planning, and consent matters. Given the small size of the in-house legal team, contractors must also provide core legal support in areas including employment law, public law, procurement, freedom of information, subsidy control, competition law, commercial matters, and litigation. The total programme budget is £2 million over the two-year period, with contracts awarded through the Government Commercial Agency's Legal Panel (RM6360, Lots 1 and 2). Work will be allocated based on relevant lot, conflicts of interest, and specialist experience. Each contract has an initial phase until 30 June 2027, with an optional extension until 30 June 2028. There is no guaranteed minimum spend with any contractor.
