The Views Play Area Redesign and Redevelopment Project

Hart District Council is seeking proposals to redevelop The Views Play Area in Fleet, Hampshire into a high-quality, accessible, and inclusive play environment. The project aims to serve children aged under 8 and 8-12 years, with careful consideration of surfacing improvements (including grass, concrete, and wet pour options) to enhance accessibility, durability, and safety. Designers should maximize the site's natural contours to create varied play experiences and appropriate challenge levels for all abilities. A core requirement is delivering genuine inclusivity that exceeds minimum compliance standards through accessible equipment, inclusive play experiences, and thoughtful layout design enabling children of all abilities to play together. The design must also address connectivity between upper and lower levels, surfacing transitions, seating, and social spaces to support parents, carers, and guardians with varying mobility needs. The finished play area will function as a central community hub and destination playground in Fleet town centre, creating a welcoming focal point to attract families and support wider town centre activity. This project will be funded through a Public Works Loan. Shortlisted designs will undergo public consultation, with final approval by the Town Council based on community feedback.
