Heritage and Traditional Skills Provider for Schools

Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) is seeking to procure a community and alternative education provider specializing in heritage and traditional skills to deliver an expanded programme across secondary schools. The provider will work with the Council's Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) Service to support young people aged 11+ who are at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The programme will offer practical learning opportunities in areas such as traditional construction, permaculture, blacksmithing, and green space development, delivered within secondary school settings. The successful provider will have proven experience delivering heritage-based education, collaborate with school staff to identify suitable learners, and help build confidence and engagement among participants. The Council has successfully piloted similar initiatives through previous projects and seeks to expand this proven model across three PRU sites and wider school communities. This is an opportunity to support vulnerable young people while building pathways into heritage construction and land-based employment sectors.
