Developing a Local Government Vision for Neighbourhood Health and Wellbeing

The Local Government Association (LGA) is seeking partners to develop a comprehensive local government perspective on neighbourhood health and wellbeing that complements the Government's Neighbourhood Health Framework (published March 2026). The framework aims to create integrated, locally-owned health services, but currently focuses primarily on NHS delivery. This opportunity requires you to work with councils and local partners to articulate local government's essential role in providing care, prevention, wellbeing and support services that underpin clinical care. The deliverable should set out local government priorities and ambitions, demonstrating what neighbourhood-integrated working looks and feels like from a council and resident perspective. This vision will inform national policy development and enable councils and partners to lead and shape local practice by clarifying how councils' services wrap around and strengthen NHS-led neighbourhood health plans, multidisciplinary teams, and health centres.
