Brief
Finedon Town Council is seeking tenders for paving and resurfacing work at Finedon Cemetery, located at 102 Station Road, Finedon, NN9 5NS.
1. **Project Overview:**
The project involves overlaying existing tarmac paths with new tarmac to create a smooth, level route that follows the general layout of the current paths. The specifications include:
- Vehicle access path (marked in red) must be at least 3.5 meters wide (approximately 1400 square meters).
- Pedestrian-only paths (marked in yellow) must be at least 1.5 meters wide (approximately 1100 square meters).
- A new pedestrian path (marked in green) must also be at least 1.5 meters wide (approximately 35 square meters).
2. **Specifications:**
- Trim existing edges to install new gully edging frames.
- Clean all surfaces of loose material and treat with a suitable weed killer.
- Apply a bonding coat before laying the new surface.
- Use AC6 Dense surface course macadam (100/150 pen) with a minimum depth of 30mm for vehicle routes and 20mm for pedestrian routes.
- Seal all joints between the edging and the new path, as well as between the new path and the external roadside footpath.
- Backfill edges to the finishing level with topsoil and seed.
**Entrance Gates:**
- Ensure the finishing level aligns with the external roadside footpath.
- The new path must not obstruct the operation of vehicle or pedestrian gates.
- Reinstall any fixtures around the gates, such as hooks or bollards.
**New Footpath:**
- Install a compacted 150 MOT type crushed sub-base course.
- Install new gully edging frames.
- Use a 50mm deep, 20mm dense binder course and a 20mm deep, 6mm dense surface course.
3. **Installation:**
For safety reasons, the cemetery may be closed to the public during installation. Partial access may be allowed in safe areas. The contractor must manage all access points, safety barriers, and health and safety matters. Damage to adjacent grass is expected, but fresh seeded topsoil will be used to restore any damaged areas. All waste and contaminants must be removed from the site.
4. **Documentation Required:**
- A fully assessed risk assessment must be submitted with the tender to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- A copy of public liability insurance.
- A project timeline and expected start date.
5. **Warranty:**
All work will be covered by a minimum 5-year warranty. Any defects not due to vandalism or normal wear and tear must be rectified within 2 months of notification.
The contract is expected to be awarded after Council approval on September 3, 2025, with work starting on October 1, 2025. All work must be completed within 8 weeks of the start date.
