    Brief

In 2008, the Klinikum Altmühlfranken in Weißenburg was expanded with a specialist center. Now, due to age-related issues and deficiencies in space and functionality, the hospital will undergo a comprehensive renovation and expansion in two phases. This application includes the construction and equipment planning for Phase 1, which consists of two subsections: BA1A and BA1E. In Phase 1, the existing functional building will be replaced by a new building (BA1A), which will then be renovated or converted for future use (BA1B). Additionally, the existing entrance hall will be expanded and renewed (BA1E). BA1A - New Building: The new building in the southeast of the site is designed as a compact structure with an ideal floor plan and direct access to the main entrance. It will house all core functions of the hospital: - Basement: Central Sterilization Supply Department, Laboratory, Changing Rooms, Archive, Laundry Exchange, Technical Area - Ground Floor: Emergency and Outpatient Entrance, Radiology, Endoscopy, Functional Diagnostics, Delivery - 1st Floor: Operating Department with Same-Day Surgery, Intensive Care, On-Call Service - 2nd Floor: Technical Area The floor plan includes a centrally located public access axis running east-west, with individual functional areas and vertical access via an elevator core. An interior courtyard will also be created on the 1st floor to ensure adequate lighting for the respective departments. This tailored new building will optimize hospital operations and eliminate the primary functional deficiencies of the existing structure. The independent construction of the new functional building BA1A will allow ongoing operations in the existing facility to continue without disruption. BA1E - New Building/Renovation of Entrance Hall: The new building and its connection to the existing structure will create a new entrance situation and a forward-looking urban appearance for the hospital. The existing entrance hall will be expanded and straightened at the entrance level, providing a clear and distinct access point. The entrance hall, located centrally within the hospital, will be completely renovated and will house general functions: - Ground Floor: Service Facilities with Reception/Post Office, Pastoral Care and Social Services - Upper Floors: Access with Waiting Areas During this renovation, a temporary main entrance will be established from the north at the transition to the new building. BA1B - Renovation of Existing Structure, Outlook (not part of this application): After relocating the core functions of the hospital to the newly constructed BA1A, the original functional building will be remodeled to accommodate the following functions: - Basement: Supply/Disposal, Storage, Housekeeping and Transport Services, Maintenance/Repair, Waste Disposal, Pharmaceuticals, Technical Area - Ground Floor: Physical Therapy, Medical Services, On-Call Service, Food Supply with Visitor/Staff Cafeteria with Outdoor Area - 1st Floor: Medical Services, Administration - 2nd Floor: Prayer Room, Technical Area As part of the core renovation, a larger structural intervention will create an interior courtyard on the 1st floor to provide light for the adjacent functions. The entire renovation can be completed in one phase, with only 4 out of 7 existing food supply services in the basement remaining operational until the new food supply on the ground floor is completed and subsequently remodeled. BA2 - Phase 2, Outlook (not part of this application): In the second phase, the nursing facilities at Klinikum Altmühlfranken in Weißenburg will be modernized. This will involve either renovating and expanding the existing nursing homes or constructing new nursing facilities adjacent to the newly built functional building BA1A, which is ideally positioned for connection to new nursing structures.
